Showcase of Graduate Work
On this page you can see the work I have done throughout my time as a Michigan State University graduate student. Below you will find the different pieces of work placed into 3 themes that best represent each piece of work. These themes include assessment, lessons/units, and research and analysis. My hope is that after viewing my different pieces of work you will get a better idea about the skills and knowledge I have gained and strengthened through my time in my master's program.
Assessment
This assessment theme is important to my time in the MAET program because in many of my courses I learned how to create assessments online. I did not just learn how to put assessments online but I also learned how to make assessments in many different ways in order to help all students show their learning and understanding using their own strengths and creativity. These different forms are shown below to demonstrate the different types of assessments I have learned to develop as well as a rubric of 10 topics that I feel are most important for assessing students work.
This assessment was created on MinecraftEdu. This was a new platform for me and it took me a long time to maneuver through it. I am proud of this piece because after a lot of trial and error I was finally able to create an assessment through the game that would work best with first graders.

This assessment was created using Google Classroom. This was another new platform for me in my master's courses and at first I was hesitant for how I would use it with younger children (K-3). After exploring more with the platform I learned how to create and assign assessments to students so that all students could take the assessment online.

Rubric 4.0 is a rubric I created that contains 10 pieces of criteria that are the most important things that should be included in a rubric when assessing students. These criterions were researched and learned about in depth during my CEP 813 course. This version of my rubric was my fourth revision and final version of the criterion I chose as most important for assessing students. This artifact showed me the importance of assessing students and having a purpose for what you are assessing to make the work meaningful and beneficial for students.
Lessons/Units
This theme is important to my time in my master's program because I spent a lot of time in my courses looking over lessons and/or units of my teaching and learning how to integrate technology into them. These pieces took many hours and are pieces that I can use in my teaching for years to come.
This pieces is an online platform on Weebly where I created 4 lessons that help students learn about opinion writing. Each lesson includes videos, activities and modeling from me in order to teach students how to write an opinion piece of writing based on the Common Core State Standards. While working on this assignment I learned how to build an online course with my students in mind as a way of enhancing student learning and using tools that would best help all types of learners.

This Social Studies Unit was created during my internship year when I was student teaching in a second grade classroom. After planning out this unit I then taught the unit to my second graders. While the standards were taught through the social studies curriculum at the time, I changed some of the lessons in order to better engage students in their learning as well as develop better group work and discussion. Through this unit I learned how to integrate and add to curriculum programs so that students were getting the most out of their lessons.

Research and Analysis
This theme is important to my time in my master's program because I spent a lot of time during in my courses learning how to research and analyze different things. The papers I wrote had to do with research I had done or based on my own experiences in a classroom setting. These pieces bring my own touch of ideas and combine them with real-world research.
This paper was written during my time in a fourth grade classroom during my internship year. I used my own information that was collected through the lessons and formed ideas that best explained my findings. In this piece I discuss discussion and the role discussion has in the classroom.

This research paper was done after spending time learning how to research educational articles. I spent many hours researching and reading through valid articles that best supported my research topic. For this research I looked for the affects homework had on student's engagement and classroom success.

This paper was written to explain my idea of learning and what learning looks like and means to me. After learning about how people learn and how learning takes place, I formed an opinion about how learning is modeled both inside and outside of a classroom. This idea was researched and I used my own personal experiences inside of the classroom to help justify my thinking.
